India Stars Rewarded

27 October 2026 by Guest

India players have been rewarded for fine performances after their team won by margins of nine wickets and 121 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ICC Women’s Championship ODI series against Zimbabwe in Vadodara.

Deepti Sharma grabbed five wickets across the two matches and scored a dazzling 86-ball 106 in the second match to leap four slots to 23rd in the batting rankings, moving one slot to eighth in the bowlers’ list and advancing two places in the all-rounders’ list to fourth place.

Harmanpreet Kaur smashed 126 from 121 in the second match to move up two places to eighth among batters while Pratika Rawal’s third ODI century in the first match (100 off 96 balls) and 61 (off 67 balls) in the second match have helped her advance seven slots to a career-best 21st place and 598 rating points.

Captain Smriti Mandhana has slipped one slot to second after scores of 32 and zero in the first two matches, allowing Laura Wolvaardt to regain the leading position for the first time since November 2025. It is the South Africa skipper’s ninth separate stint at the top, having first gone to number one in March 2022

Other movements have seen Shafali Verma leap 15 places to 73rd in the batting rankings, while Kranti Gaud’s haul of three for 43 in the first ODI is rewarded with a two-slot lift to 25th in the bowling rankings and a three-tile move to 33rd among all-rounders.

Zimbabwe had cause to celebrate the success of Modester Mupachikwa (up five slots to career-best 39th and 508 rating points), Chipo Mugeri-Tiripana (up four tiles to 47th) and Beloved Biza (up 16 slots to career-best 56th place and 431 rating points) after they came up with notable scores.

In the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, Verma gained a slot to move to third place in the batters’ table, with Mandhana just three rating points behind her (753) in fourth place after also moving one place up following their third T20I against Zimbabwe for a series sweep. Nandani Sharma’s three for 18 in that match saw her climb 13 slots to 32nd place, with Gaud rising five spaces to 38th for her wicket for 19 runs.

Australia’s home series against New Zealand in North Sydney ended in a wash out, but not before the hosts secured the series with a 40-run win over the visitors in the second match last week following their opening two-wicket scrape for victory.

Ash Gardner starred in the second match with a 45-ball 84 blitz that elevated her nine places to 19th with the bat. Her teammate, Georgia Wareham took three wickets for 18 to earn a four-slot jump to joint-seventh, while Kim Garth’s contributions across all three matches see her make a return to the top 10 with five-tile jump to joint-10th.

New Zealand’s Bree Illing and Nensi Patel advanced six slots each to 17th and 29th places, respectively, in the bowlers’ list.

The roundarm action used for throwing the ball was used prior to the overarm throw used today. Prior to its conception, the underarm throw was used. The roundarm throw was conceived by English cricketer Tom Walker during the 1790s. Some insiders credit a woman, Christiana Willes to have devised the roundarm style. Wearing the bulky dresses of her time, Willes found the underarm throw difficult and inaccurate and decided to change it.
