Lt Col Douw Steyn, the former Operational Commander of the Raiding Group of 4 Special Forces Regiment and one of the authors of the book Iron Fist from the Sea, will speak on South African Special Forces seaborne operations before and during the Border War.

He will take the audience on a journey through the history of clandestine seaborne operations undertaken by South Africa’s 4 Reconnaissance Regiment.

With unparalleled access to previously secret material, his story will explore the successes and occasional failures of specialised actions, from Cabinda on the West Coast to Tanzania on the East Coast.

The founding of the South African Native National Congress (SANNC): Jan 8, 1912 – The precursor to the ANC, this political and cultural movement was founded to fight for the rights of black South Africans.
