Katherine Jenkins celebrates 20-year career

15 March 2024 by Alan

The Welsh Rugby Union is delighted to announce its partnership with Katherine Jenkins to launch her premium gin, Cygnet Gin UP+ pre-mixed cocktail at Principality Stadium this Saturday.

This is a full circle moment for Katherine who is delighted to be launching the RTD with the home crowd, in the same venue where she launched her career 20 years prior. Saturday will be another pivotal moment for Katherine.

Katherine says, “I am so excited to be launching our Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic this weekend to the home-crowd at Principality Stadium in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union. My career started here in 2003 when I proudly sang ‘Mae hen wlad fy nhadau” on the pitch, and it means the world to me to have the same level of support from the WRU today as it did 20 years ago.

“The home of Welsh rugby will always have a special place in my heart, which is why it feels like such a full circle moment to be announcing that my Cygnet Gin collection is now permanently available at the stadium, across the bars this Super Saturday and beyond.”

Abi Tierney, WRU CEO adds, “We’re delighted that Katherine has chosen to launch her new product line with us in recognition of the moment she first took to the pitch to sing our anthem 20 years ago at the beginning of her stellar career.

“Over the following years, Katherine’s presence has become synonymous with Welsh rugby and it’s a real honour to welcome her back to Principality Stadium to celebrate her latest milestone occasion.

“Katherine’s brought joy to millions through her voice, and we’re delighted to be partnering with her to bring her new premium gin & tonic to the stadium to delight our discerning fans.”

Founded by the classical superstar Katherine Jenkins OBE and artist and social-impact filmmaker Andrew Levitas, the launch of Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic, an ultra-premium ready to drink, is their answer to the growing demand for higher quality spirits in convenience format. The category disrupting, award-winning brand is now seeking to enhance the ready-to-drink landscape with the launch of their UP+ pre-mixed cocktail.

Katherine will make a special pitch-side appearance ahead of the match in the build up to the game to announce the launch of Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic, and its on-going listing across select bars in Principality Stadium. Cygnet will be highly visible across the estate, with media screens pitch side and across all hospitality screens announcing the listing. To ensure the match is front and centre, WRU and Cygnet Gin are launching an exclusive competition over the weekend to win an Official WRU Signed Jersey from the 2024 Guinness 6 Nations squad and a year’s subscription of Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic (accessed on cygnet-distillery.com).

Since launching 6 months ago, Cygnet Gin has exploded across the London luxury restaurant and bar scene, now available at Isabel Mayfair, Searcys, The Rosewood Hotel, and across the full Caprice Group including The Ivy Collection restaurants nationwide to name but a few. Alongside this, award winning Cygnet 22 and Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin are available to purchase at Waitrose and John Lewis nationwide, and Marks & Spencer Welsh regional stores. The launch of the ready-to-drink can comes at a pivotal moment of the brand’s growth and aims to offer an ultra-premium gin & tonic on the go.

As gin aficionados, Katherine and Andrew have worked diligently with the team to bring to market an incomparable pairing of Cygnet Welsh Dry with tonic in an UP+ convenient format. Uncompromising on the serve, Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic (7% ABV) delivers bright and zesty aromas of juniper and citrus with a smooth quinine warmth, allowing for a refreshingly dry finish that is best enjoyed chilled, delivered in a beautiful 250ml serve.
