Lepas Invites South Africans to Join the #RESERVEDFORL6 Mystery

Lepas South Africa has launched its first #ReservedforL6 guerrilla campaign, transforming premium parking bays and city streets into conversation starters as the all-new Lepas L6 begins making its public debut.

  • “Reserved for the L6” parking bays have appeared at lifestyle destinations across Johannesburg, inviting South Africans to spot, photograph and share the mystery.
  • A custom-built Lepas mobile display will tour destinations from 4 August, bringing the all-new L6 closer to consumers.
  • Consumers who share their sightings using @Lepas.SouthAfrica, #ReservedforL6 and #LepasSouthAfrica stand a chance to win the Drive Your Elegance experience.

Rather than introducing the L6 through a traditional vehicle launch, Lepas is inviting South Africans to discover it for themselves.

The brand’s first-of-its-kind #ReservedforL6 activation begins with a simple message appearing in premium parking bays across Johannesburg: Reserved for the L6. With no explanation, the installations are designed to spark curiosity, encouraging shoppers, commuters and content creators to stop, speculate and share their discoveries online.

As the campaign unfolds, the mystery will continue to build through social media, where consumers are encouraged to photograph the installations and join the conversation using #ReservedforL6 and #Lepas.

From 4 August, the campaign extends beyond the parking bays with a custom-built Lepas mobile display touring premium lifestyle destinations across Johannesburg. Carrying the all-new L6 within a striking architectural display, the activation is designed to bring the vehicle directly to consumers while creating memorable moments for photography and social sharing.

“The #ReservedforL6 campaign is about taking the L6 to people,” says Letitia Herold, National Brand and Marketing Manager at Lepas South Africa. “The reserved parking bays created the initial intrigue, while the mobile display truck gives people the opportunity to see the vehicle as it makes its way through Johannesburg.”

Those who spot the L6 and share their images using @Lepas.SouthAfrica, #ReservedforL6 and #LEPASSouthAfrica will stand a chance to win the Drive Your Elegance experience,* extending the campaign beyond the streets and into the hands of South Africans.

The activation reflects Lepas’ aspirational positioning and a different approach to launching a new vehicle. Rather than revealing everything at once, the campaign invites South Africans to become part of the story as it unfolds, turning curiosity into conversation, and conversation into discovery.

As #ReservedforL6 unfolds across Johannesburg, all roads lead to the Festival of Motoring 2026, where the L6 will take the next step in its South African debut. It will join the L4, which introduced South African motorists to the Lepas brand earlier this year, as the company continues to expand its local model range.

About Lepas

Lepas is Chery Group’s aspirational lifestyle automotive brand, created for design-conscious customers seeking expressive styling, intelligent technology, comfort and everyday practicality. In South Africa, the brand is aimed at young families and urban professionals.

At the centre of the Lepas identity is “Leopard Aesthetics”, the brand’s distinctive design language. Inspired by the strength, movement and elegance of the leopard, these qualities inform the proportions, surfaces and visual character of Lepas vehicles.

Lepas made its international debut in April 2025, followed by a South African brand soft launch in November 2025. The brand’s local product introduction began with the launch of the L4 in March 2026. The introduction of the L6 expands the local range, with further models planned as Lepas develops its presence in South Africa.

Lepas currently has 29 operational dealerships nationwide, with Waterfall the latest addition to its retail footprint. A total of 42 dealerships have been appointed, supported by 39 appointed service stations and trained technicians nationwide.

Within Chery Group’s portfolio, Lepas occupies a distinct position alongside Chery, OMODA, JAECOO and iCAUR, with a focus on contemporary design, intelligent technology, comfort and lifestyle-oriented mobility.

Lepas is supported by the global resources, engineering expertise and expanding South African footprint of Chery Group. The Group’s investment in the Rosslyn manufacturing facility in Pretoria demonstrates its long-term commitment to the local automotive industry and provides a strong foundation for the continued growth of its brands in South Africa.

Lepas customers benefit from a five-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, a five-year/75,000 km service plan, roadside assistance and a 10-year/one-million km engine warranty applicable to the first owner. Every L4 Javan and Pantera also includes a standard two-year Lepas Care plan, covering selected minor cosmetic repairs, transport assistance and mobility support.

“If a young man tells his date how handsome, smart, and successful he is – that’s advertising. If the young man tells his date she’s intelligent, looks lovely, and is a great conversationalist, he’s saying the right things to the right person and that’s marketing. If someone else tells the young woman how handsome, smart, and successful her date is – that’s PR.” – S. H. Simmons

Media clips used to require actual clipping. To see if PR efforts paid off, a company hired women in Maine to read through every single newspaper. Every time they found mention of a client, they underlined it with red wax pencil and were paid around two cents. PR pros would paste these clips into a “clip book” and show it to each client.
