Elon Musk’s very public cosying up to Donald Trump and his millions of dollars spent in support of Trump’s quest to be the President of the United States offers up a salient lesson:
Hooking your star to one man shooting for the Presidency is fraught with potholes along the way.
Three of them:
- The average term served by Presidents tends to be around 6-7 years.
- The average lifespan of a company on the S&P 500 Index is just over 21 years.
- Approximately 30% of small businesses survive beyond 10 years.
The average listed and privately owned business lifespan is longer than the average term served by a President.
So, only a businessman anticipating a huge lifetime payday would be crazy enough to ‘buy a President’.
So Elon – are you crazy or does Nostradamus defer to you?
