  • What you would pay IF MyPR sold backlinks
  • Why links back to your web site are a ‘good thing’

Whilst doing some research for an upcoming article about my woes with a large South African online shop piggybacking on our family businesses good name I had to find out just how much people were charging for backlinks.

Definition of backlinks: An incoming hyperlink from one web page to another website. Popularised by Google in their early days of trying to rank web sites as the premise was that “the more backlinks you have pointing back to your site, the more popular it will be”.

NB: MyPR does not sell backlinks.

Anyway my research landed me on a web site called Dupli Checker that offers a service valuing how much you should pay for a backlink – all you do is plug in the URL of the web site you would like to ask to place a backlink on and Dupli Checker provides you with a MONTHLY estimated fair price value.

Of course, I couldn’t resist so I asked Dupli Checker to calculate how much MyPR should charge per backlink.

And the amount recommended?

  • $67.50 per month.

Yes that equates to R1 230.69 PER MONTH per backlink

Dupli Checker’s Link Price Calculator is a tool to get a clear-cut estimate of how much you need to charge or can be expected to pay per month for a specific URL or a text link. It is also utilized as a tool for Search Engine Optimization in order to compute how much you need to be paying for a text link ad should you wish to advertise on a site. All you have to do is to copy/paste the website URL or input it on the interface.

Why are Links so important?

Webmasters are more likely to benefit from a real interested audience who drive organic traffic to the website. If you well understand the power of popular search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, and how they can play a critical role in bringing more attention from your target audience that could be helpful in earning more profits, then you certainly also understand the need for effective link building.
