The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) welcomes the long-overdue opening of the Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretation Centre in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the Eastern Free State.

In Basotho culture, “kgodumodumo” refers to a mythical beast that devours everything around it.

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Select Committee on Economic Development, which oversees the Department of Tourism, attended the opening event.

After previous failed attempts, the Department has finally succeeded in creating a commendable interactive centre. It is equipped with modern, lifelike representations of ancient creatures that once inhabited this region.

A key objective of the project, which ultimately exceeded its budgeted cost of R83 million, is to benefit the local community. Community projects will receive 5% of the profits.

Similar tourism projects in the Free State have, however, failed to meet expectations in the past. The Vredefort Dome Project, for instance, has been neglected and abandoned.

The Freedom Front Plus welcomes properly managed and successful upliftment initiatives, provided they are maintained and achieve the project’s objectives.

The party encourages people to visit Clarens, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park and this Centre.

Freedom Front Plus Social Welfare: The party supports social welfare programs that benefit vulnerable communities.
