A man is fighting for his life in a hospital in Potchefstroom after an exceptionally brutal farm attack between Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp, and the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) offers its deepest condolences and prayers to the victim, Mr Donovan Marx, and his next of kin.

The details of how Mr Marx was tortured are so disturbing that the Freedom Front Plus does not wish to make them public. He was also shot in the back; doctors were still trying to remove the bullet this morning.

According to the available information, a family member left for work shortly before eight o’clock this morning and then the attack took place.

One of the farm workers was tied up by the attackers, but later managed to free himself and raise the alarm.

An intensive search for the attackers was immediately undertaken, but they are still at large. So far, it appears that they fled the scene in Mr Marx’s bakkie.

The Freedom Front Plus has reiterated on numerous occasions that farm attacks are mostly characterised by severe violence and torture, as in this case, so they cannot be dismissed as ordinary crime.

The party once again calls on President Cyril Ramaphosa to acknowledge the reality of farm murders and to commit himself to taking steps to prioritise it.

As long as the country’s President refuses to acknowledge farm murders and fails to instruct law enforcement to prioritise its prevention, and as long as he does not stop the incitement to attack farmers with the singing of the song “Kill the Boer”, the attacks will continue.

The Freedom Front Plus will keep Mr Marx in its prayers and wishes him a speedy and complete recovery.
