The Bitterfontein Housing Project will benefit approximately 98 families, with construction already underway and bulk services to be completed by March 2026. Minister Tertuis Simmers officially launched the project today, 2 December 2025, at a sod-turning ceremony.
At the occasion, Minister Simmers said, “98 families are set to benefit from this crucial housing development. Once bulk services are installed, we will commence with construction of top structures. The Western Cape Government is delivering housing opportunities just like this all across the province. Providing stable, safe and affordable housing is part of our plan to drive economic inclusion, growth and jobs.”
Minister Simmers also handed over 114 title deeds to families in Vredendal, after the successful completion of Vredendal North Phase 6 housing project which created 264 housing opportunities. The Minister also announced that planning for Phase 7 is now underway.
“The construction of Phase 6 top structures started in February and already here we are handing over title deeds. This is delivery in action, providing safe and affordable housing to communities in Vredendal. The Western Cape Government is working across the province to deliver project just like this – in fact, I am happy to announce that Phase 7 of this project is already in the planning stage.” Simmers concluded.
During the 2024/25 financial year, the Western Cape Government delivered 9632 housing opportunities across the province.
