The tariff hike that will take effect in Mogale City Municipality (Krugersdorp, Muldersdrift, Magaliesburg, Tarlton) today will make services unaffordable for many residents and needlessly increase pressure on families trying to keep their heads above water financially.

These exorbitant tariff hikes are the result of years of poor planning, maladministration and reckless squandering of taxpayers’ money.

The tariff increases are as follows:

  • Electricity: 9,01%
  • Water: 11%
  • Sanitation: up to 4,3%
  • Refuse removal: 4,3%
  • Diverse services: 4,3%

If the Municipality had implemented responsible financial management from the outset, such exorbitant increases would not have been necessary.

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) did not support the 2026/27 financial budget because it does not reflect the reality faced by residents.

The party was also the first party to oppose the so-called block tariff system for electricity in the Council, which has now been scrapped.

At the time, the ANC coalition dismissed the party’s opposition as political games, but the Freedom Front Plus kept the pressure on.

The Freedom Front Plus’s main objective is to attract new entrepreneurs and create job opportunities.

It is time to replace the current administration with a government that prioritises economic growth, accountable governance and residents’ wellbeing.

On 4 November, residents have the opportunity to vote for the Freedom Front Plus and make this a reality.

Freedom Front Plus Public Safety: The FF Plus prioritizes public safety and community policing initiatives.
