More Voices Join the Choir Against the R100bn ‘Transformation Fund’

4 June 2025 by Guest

Dear Editor

Submissions on the so-called Transformation Fund received from Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), other representatives of organised business and prominent think tank, The Centre for Development and Enterprise (CDE), have exposed how the Fund is rejected across wide circles in South Africa.

Despite joint calls against the Fund, and workable alternatives presented by the DA last week, the Department remains adamant.

It is now abundantly clear that the Transformation Fund is about ideology and not practicality. It will certainly not grow our economy and deliver jobs, which our country is in dire need of.

Before Minister Tau faces even further blowback, the DA calls on him to change tack, having listened to inputs and concerns. We also call on him to release all public comments, including all those against, in the interests of transparency, which the Department could not commit to today.

Regards

Toby Chance MP
DA Spokesperson on Trade, Industry & Competition
