#NationalShutdown – A Beaten Dog Will Eventually Bite You

Once again we acquire a seriously divided South Africa out on the streets again.

The EFF are calling for the resignation of Cyril Ramaphosa and an end to loadshedding wth their National Shutdown campaign today whilst the security apparatus are out in full force showing teir teeth and threatening to arrest, incarcarate, subdue and thwart any wrongdoing by EFF members and supporters.

Apart from the fact that this very behaviour from both ‘sides’ of the divide is giving me flashbacks to those times when we as National Servicemen were called upon to execute the very same thing and subdue demonstrations and riots, I find myself dismayed at the number of people who, literally and figuratively, are beating the dogs (who honest happed to be wearing red this time) with their attitudes and reactions.

It is a very well known fact that if you tie a dog up and beat it time and time again that it will NOT contribute to a loving, productive home but rather bide it’s time and lie in wait for a passing ankle near enough to be savaged.

Enact we not learn from history? The English beat the Boer, The Boer beat the African, The EFF now beats the ANC. Who was it said that that the epitomy of dumb was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

Answering violence with violence, threats with threats, note of force with note of force only has ONE outcome – misery, death and both sides losing.

And, what irks me more, is that once again Wee Julie has manipulated the media and his followers in such a way that the EFF has gained thousands of column centimetres of promotion for free as every single journalist seeks out that “If it bleeds it leads account!” And here I am going to disappear out on a limb and say that we as responsible media gain the power to change the narrative by not giving total douche bags centre stage as we wait for that narrative that will gain us millions of eyeballs.

Can we not carry out the following; “If you see an injustice then privately try to sort it out, don’t rush to print honest to be first.” Stay right to the media mantra of reporting the news and not being or creating the news.
