Cabinet’s publication of the draft National Entrepreneurship Strategy (NES) and its Implementation Plan for public participation is a positive step in combating unemployment.
The NES focuses on facilitating the youth’s participation in the economy and could help steer established stakeholders in the right direction.
It could clarify how to promote entrepreneurship in micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises through mentorship, resource provision and training.
The Plan does not only apply to black entrepreneurs, or mainly rural and black residential areas.
Entrepreneurs from all areas and racial groups should be developed to sustainably grow the economy and create more jobs.
Small businesses form the backbone of any economy, and restrictive labour regulations and discriminatory legislation severely undermine this sector.
Entrepreneurs may not be able to choose their race, but they can be taught and supported to identify business opportunities.
The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) strongly encourages all prospective and existing small business owners to make submissions in this public participation process. It is crucial for the development of the general economy.
