New IDT Board Must Clean Shop

8 April 2025 by Guest

Dear Editor

The Minister of Public Works & Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, has introduced a new board for Independent Development Trust (IDT), after more than a year and a half of absent leadership.

The IDT is a central infrastructure-build agency of the Department, involved in projects from schools, health facilities, justice and correctional facilities, as well as facilitating the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme).

The IDT has been the site of a forensic probe by PwC, involving an irregular R800m hospital oxygen tender. The new IDT board is entrusted with seeing this investigation to completion and rebuilding the entity as an effective construction engine for our country.

The DA will not be deterred by any threats, as the work of delivering quality governance to South Africans remains foremost.

Regards

Edwin Bath MP
DA Deputy Spokesperson on Public Works & Infrastructure
