Reports warning of stalled turnaround plans – based on Auditor General’s reports, financial distress, and institutional decline – have shaped a growing narrative that Denel’s best days are behind it, implying that South Africa may be better off without it as a state-owned entity.  This conclusion is not only premature, it is strategically dangerous and yet, compelling.
