Pan-African Banking Giant Confirmed as New Official SA20 Banking Partner

8 September 2025 by Guest

Betway SA20 and Absa have announced a new multi-year partnership, confirming the pan-African financial services group as the Official Banking Partner of the League.

The new partnership follows a successful inaugural collaboration in Season 3, which saw the bank leverage opportunities to reward fans and cardholders across 34 matches.

Absa will continue to build on the strategic innovation which brought its brand to life in incredible fashion, maximising on entertainment and fan-first activations for the anticipated fourth season starting on 26 December.

“We are proud to announce a new three-year partnership with Absa, a trusted household name in South Africa and across the continent,” League Commissioner, Graeme Smith said. “This partnership follows an incredibly successful inaugural partnership with Absa in Season 3, where they provided endless entertainment for the fans at the stadiums. Absa’s values of innovation, entertainment and fan-first inclusivity align strongly with SA20’s vision of being the No.1 sport and entertainment brand in South Africa, while strongly impacting the passionate fans who attend our matches. Last season we had nearly 400 000 fans attending our matches, together with Absa, we look forward to crafting memorable experiences for those attending in Season 4.”

Building on the success of last season, fans can once again look forward to the return of the Absa Card Play of the Day, where Absa card holders win instant cash at every game. In Season 3, fans had the chance to win up to R100 000 per match, with one lucky Absa customer walking away with R200 000 at the final.

“We are incredibly proud to be the official banking partner for Betway SA20 for another three years,” Sydney Mbhele, Absa Group Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer said. “This partnership goes beyond just being a sponsor; it’s about creating an elevated experience for the cricket fans and our customers. By signing up at our in-stadium activations, Absa cardholders can enter the Absa Card Play of the Day and stand a chance to win up to R100 000. We are bringing tangible benefits and memorable moments to the heart of the SA20. Our goal as a bank is to connect the sports fanbase and demonstrate the value of our banking solution, all while championing the sport.”

Absa will also once again host its popular concourse activations at every match, giving fans the opportunity to sign up for an Absa account and walk away with exciting giveaways.

MI Cape Town will open the defense of their title against Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands on 26 December. This will be the start of a month-long holiday season festival of cricket culminating with the final on 25 January at Newlands.
