Plan to end TV licences in South Africa | SA News


South Africans are likely witnessing the beginning of the end of the SABC TV licence scheme, with options such as a device-neutral household levy being favoured as a replacement.

The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies has appointed BMI TechKnowledge to develop a sustainable funding model for the broadcaster, and it’s set to be finalised by 6 February 2026.

  1. A Priest was seated next to Van Der Merwe on a flight to Brakpan.

    After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken.

    Van Der Merwe asked for a Rum and Coke, which was brought and placed before him.

    The flight attendant then asked the priest if he would like a drink.

    He replied in disgust \”I\’d rather be savagely raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips.\”
