Planned Electricity Outage

29 May 2025 by Guest

Cape Town City advises residents in the Manenberg, The Downs area of an electricity supply interruption for essential infrastructure maintenance, which will be carried out on Thursday, 5 June 2025 from 08:30 to 16:00. The City apologises for any inconvenience.

It is important to note that interruptions to supply will only impact the areas on the maps and only on the relevant date. The work will be carried out from 08:30 to 16:00, if all goes to plan.

Please note:

The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work.

Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.

The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding.

For queries, contact the City’s Call Centre: 0860 103 089

Fun South African Fact: South Africa is known as the “Rainbow Nation” thanks to its mix of cultures across the country. The status of being a cultural “melting pot” is evident in the fact that South Africa has a whopping 11 official languages: English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, IsiNdebele, Sesotho, Northern Sotho, Setswana, SiSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga. Most South Africans speak more than one national language. IsiZulu is the most common first language and isiXhosa is second. Fun fact – did you know the people of Wakanda speak isiXhosa in Marvel’s Black Panther movie?
