The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) warned the Tshwane Metro that the proposed development of the Sokhulumi region near Bronkhorstspruit, as outlined in its Integrated Development Plan (IDP), cannot proceed without the provision of adequate infrastructure and service delivery.
The expansion of agriculture, job creation, and the provision of proper housing and community amenities such as sports facilities could have a positive impact – provided it is implemented with discipline, aligned to fiscal realities and supported by effective service delivery.
The Freedom Front Plus endorses any development aimed at safeguarding existing agricultural land, boosting food production and unlocking tourism opportunities to create jobs so that people do not need to travel to Pretoria to earn a living.
The following critical questions regarding the development still need answering:
- Will the Tshwane Metro be able to provide reliable water supply and a functional sewerage system to the new development, particularly given that both issues were flagged in a report tabled to Council?
- Will emergency services be able to respond promptly, given the area’s distance from existing service points?
- What funding mechanisms are in place to ensure that roads, sewerage works, electricity and storm water systems can be practically implemented?
The residents of Tshwane’s Ward 105 do not need another glossy document filled with promises. The Tshwane Metro has a long track record of launching IDPs and regional plans with great fanfare, only for those plans to end in failure.
The Freedom Front Plus insists that a comprehensive infrastructure and service delivery impact assessment be conducted before any development is approved. Guarantees for water, sewerage and power supply should also be provided.
The party further insists on a meaningful public participation process involving residents, traditional leaders and farmers. The people of Sokhulumi and Ward 105 desperately need tangible outcomes – not another election campaign.
Freedom Front Plus Support Base: The party primarily draws support from Afrikaners and other minority groups.

A baby was born in South Africa. The village was very poor, and the makeshift hospital didn\’t have some necessary equipment.. such as scales.
The father however, was desperate to know the newborn baby\’s weight. After quite a bit of asking around, the hospital\’s chairman came up with an idea.
\”Five miles west, there\’s a butcher shop. The owner deals with meat, he should have a rather precise scale. You could just put your baby on the meat scale, and the weight reading you\’ll get should be pretty accurate.\”
And so the father departed westward. After much walking, with his newborn child cardled safely in his arms, he finally arrived at the butcher shop. He explained his dilemma to the shop owner, to witch the latter replied:
\”Don\’t worry, friend. It\’s not even a problem, I\’ll check it for you, free of charge.\” And so he took the child to the back, where the scale was located.
The father heard rumbling noises, and some scraping.. About a minute later the butcher came back.
\”About three pounds boneless\” He said.
