Positive Gains for Sri Lanka Players

Harshitha Samarawickrama has advanced nine places to break into the top 20 of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings for the first time, following her team’s win over India in the Sri Lanka Women’s ODI Tri-Series on Sunday.

She rose to a personal best 18th place with 583 rating points, thanks to her scores of 53 against India and 77 against South Africa which helped lead her team to back-to-back victories. In their victory over India, her teammate, Nilakshika Silva’s impressive 33-ball 56 helped give their team only their third victory against India in ODIs, which was also their second-highest successful run-chase, reaching 278/7 for with four balls to spare. This also helped Silva climb 18 slots to a career-best 25th position, with 546 ratings points.

Other Sri Lanka batters on the rise include Kavisha Dilhari who went up three places to 47th and moved one to joint 17th in the all-rounders list, while Hasini Perera jumped eight slots to joint 64th among the batters.

South Africa’s Tazmin Brits moved up 12 places to 40th among the batters thanks to her century in the second match of the Tri-Series against India. She hit 109 from 107 balls to rise to 518 ratings points, but South Africa lost the match by 15 runs in the end.

India’s Richa Ghosh and Pratika Rawal rose three and five slots respectively to reach 41st and 42nd place in the batters’ list.

In the bowlers’ list, South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk moved three spots to 25th with 490 ratings points, closely followed by teammate, Nonkululeko Mlaba who rose six slots to 28th and 466 points and shifted two places in the all-rounders list to joint 44th.

Sri Lanka’s captain, Chamari Athapaththu advanced 14 spaces to 29th with 464 points and moved one place to seventh in the all-rounders list. Her compatriot, Sugandika Kumari rocketed up 23 slots to a personal best 41st place.

India’s Sneh Rana attained a career-best 38th position with 420 points thanks to her returns of three for 31, five for 43 and three for 45 in her three matches in the Tri-Series so far.

Away from the Tri-Series, Zimbabwe’s Modester Mupachikwa hopped one place to 53rd in the batters’ list with 409 ratings points, while her teammate Beloved Biza leaped 40 slots to joint 84th in their series against the USA. America’s Disha Dhingra has moved up eight places to 58th position while her teammate Aditiba Chudasama cleared 11 slots to joint 49th among the all-rounders.

    On the morning of 11/11/11 South Africa needed 111 runs to win at 11:11 – South Africa vs Australia. This coincidence occurred during the first Test between South Africa and Australia at Cape Town. At 11:11, on 11/11/11, South Africa were 125 for 1 needing a further 111 runs for a win.
