RIP Mathilda Bains

27 August 2025 by Guest

It is with profound sadness that the Western Cape Provincial Parliament hereby informs you of the untimely passing of our Western Cape Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces, Hon Mathilda Bains.

On behalf of the Members and staff of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament we wish to offer our sincere condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and her party, the African National Congress.

The late Hon Bains served the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and the people of the Western Cape with dignity and distinction. She has been a Member of the NCOP since 2024 and served on the Select Committee on Education, Sciences and Creative Industries and the Select Committee on Social Services.

May her family, friends and colleagues find solace during this time of bereavement.
