14 December 2025 – The 2025 SAFA Women National Playoffs came to a thrilling conclusion at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) at the weekend, with Diepkloof Ladies being crowned national champions after beating Limpopo’s Ramatlaohle Ladies in the final.

It an action-packed week of top-tier women’s football and the tournament, hosted at VUT Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark, featured top teams from all nine provinces competing for national honours and promotion to the premier league.

The final game between the two teams delivered an intense and tightly encounter. Diepkloof Ladies showed composure and tactical discipline, edging past a resilient Ramatlaohle Ladies team to secure the decisive goal and claim the national title.

There were many outstanding performances, emerging talents and memorable displays during this year’s tournament, but none have been more remarkable than the stellar performance of a member of the U20 Women’s National Team, Mavis Maiacane. She led the goal-scoring statistics and her goals made her the competition’s breakout star, demonstrating the breadth of young talent developing in South African women’s football.
As the final whistle blew at VUT, the SAFA women’s championships concluded not just with the crowning of the campions, but with the promotion of the two teams to the Hollywoodbets Superleague for the 2026/2027 season.

South African Football: Another notable rivalry is with Nigeria , often referred to as the “Battle of the Giants.

A South African, an Australian and an Englishman are all having a drink

The Englishman and South African both drink from Pint Glasses, the Australian from a bottle.

The South African, upon draining his glass, drops in back down on the bar, pulls out a pistol, and shoots the glass.

\”In South Africa, there is so much sand that I never drink from the same glass twice!\”

The Australian, having drained his bottle, sets it down upon the bar and, upon seizing the South African\’s pistol, shoots his bottle.

\”In Australia, there is so much booze that I never drink from the same brand twice!\”

The Englishman, likewise having drained his glass, sets his glass upon the table, seizes the pistol the pistol from the Australian, and shoots the South African and the Australian, quite dead.

\”In England, there are so many of you bastards that I never drink with the same two twice!\”
