Statement by Tertuis Simmers – DA Western Cape Leader:
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has emerged tonight with two by-election victories in Saldanha Bay Wards 5 and 6.
We are delighted and honoured that voters continue to back the blue machine – the only party that succeeds at service delivery, job creation and clean governance.
The results of the by-elections are:
- The DA has retained Ward 5, Saldanha Bay with 87.8% of the vote – this is a significant growth in DA support, and
- The DA has retained Ward 6, Saldanha Bay with 74.49% of the vote.
We congratulate newly-elected Ward Councillors Suritha du Plessis (Ward 5) and Adriaan Groenewald (Ward 6).
Together with the DA’s Mayoral Candidate for Saldanha Bay Municipality, Marius Koen, they are charged by the party to deliver services, drive job opportunities, create safer communities for all residents.
