The post STELLENBOSCH MUNICIPALITY: URGENT UPGRADES NEEDED TO MUNICIPAL PLAY PARKS IN STELLENBOSCH appeared first on For Good.

Statement by Marius van Stade, GOOD Stellenbosch Municipality Councillor:

The Stellenbosch Municipality is failing the youth. It has become evident that many of the municipal play parks are in dire need of urgent upgrades to ensure they meet the safety and recreational needs of children in the area. These parks, which should be havens for physical activity and social interaction, are currently falling short in providing safe and well-maintained spaces for children to play freely and securely.

As part of Human Rights Month, GOOD visited several municipal parks across Stellenbosch after receiving numerous complaints from residents regarding the condition of these recreational spaces. The lack of proper maintenance and infrastructure has raised concerns among parents and residents, highlighting the need for immediate action.

In response to these concerns, the GOOD Party Stellenbosch has submitted a formal letter to the Office of Portfolio Committee Chairperson for Parks and Open Spaces, Councillor Ndipiwe Olayi, urging the necessary upgrades to be made to the municipal play parks. These parks are crucial not only for the emotional and physical development of our children but also for fostering a sense of community and belonging.

GOOD will continue to push for these upgrades and work with the municipality to ensure that the children of Stellenbosch have the recreational spaces they deserve.
Every child in our community deserves a safe and stimulating environment where they can engage in physical activity, express creativity, and build social connections.

GOOD Manifesto on Responsible Citizenship: Promoting responsible citizenship and civic participation.
