Sycadi Agriculture, a pioneering agri-tech startup in Liberia, announced a strategic partnership with FasterCapital through its LaunchUp program. The collaboration aims to accelerate sustainable greenhouse farming, boost food security, and create 800 farmer jobs, particularly empowering women.
Liberia faces significant challenges in vegetable production, relying heavily on imports and experiencing low yields due to traditional open-field farming methods. With 32% of children affected by malnutrition (UNICEF, 2023), innovative solutions are urgently needed. Sycadi Agriculture introduces climate-resilient greenhouse farming, high-quality seeds, and modern agricultural practices to increase local production and reduce import dependency.
Early traction includes 10,000 acres secured, offtake agreements, and partnerships with five NGOs and local distributors. First-year revenues are projected at $4.6 million through wholesale, retail, and partnership channels, demonstrating a scalable and sustainable business model.
Through the LaunchUp program, FasterCapital provides tailored mentorship, fundraising expertise, and global investor access. Hesham Zreik, CEO of FasterCapital, commented:
“Sycadi Agriculture is an innovative, impact-driven startup addressing critical food security challenges. We are excited to support their growth and market leadership.”
Dr. Samuel B.N. Martor, CEO of Sycadi Agriculture, stated: “This partnership validates our vision to transform Liberia’s agriculture sector, create meaningful jobs, and improve food security for thousands.”
Sycadi plans to expand greenhouse infrastructure, strengthen farmer training programs, and raise $20 million to fund these initiatives, aiming to become a regional leader in sustainable vegetable farming.
