The penultimate round of the Hollywoodbets Super League Amplified Festival in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, promises a weekend of drama as teams battle for crucial points at both ends of the Super Era and Super Rise Streams.

The three-day tournament runs from Friday, 30 October to Sunday, 01 November 2026 at Kabokweni Stadium.

All teams will be in action except Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, who will compete in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt starting on Sunday.

Banyana Ba Style, who were scheduled to face fifth-placed Copperbelt Ladies this weekend, have already secured the Super Era Stream title, leaving the University of the Western Cape (UWC), the University of Pretoria (Tuks) and TS Galaxy Queens to battle for second place.

Limpopo and Gauteng Derbies Spice Up the Action

Meanwhile, two eagerly anticipated derbies will take centre stage. Limpopo rivals First Touch Ladies, who are sixth and fifth-placed Ramatlaohle Ladies meet on Saturday before Johannesburg adversaries JVW FC, who are second and third-placed University of Johannesburg (UJ) renew their rivalry on Sunday.

Both encounters could significantly influence the Super Rise Stream’s top-four race. A draw between JVW and UJ would benefit leaders University of Fort Hare (UFH), who will be hoping their rivals drop points. Only two points separate the top three.

First Touch and Ramatlaohle are also separated by two points.

UFH coach, Simphiwe Mafete has stressed the importance of consistency after his side won six of their last seven matches, drawing the other. The Eastern Cape-based outfit have collected 25 points.

“At this point, we just need to work on consistency and make sure discipline is our number one priority,” said Mafete, whose side face Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on Saturday.

Relegation Alarm Bells Ring Louder

At the other end of the table across the two streams, Richmond United Ladies, Stellenbosch FC, Ezemvelo Women’s FC and City Lads Ladies face potentially decisive fixtures in their respective streams.

Richmond’s survival bid continues against Tuks on Friday. Coach, Matshabela Seale admitted that pulling away from fellow strugglers Diepkloof Ladies and Stellenbosch in the Super Era Stream has proved difficult, with just one point separating the trio.

“It has really been difficult to motivate the players because we’ve been losing games by large margins,” admitted Seale.

Richmond have conceded 14 goals in their last three matches, including an 8 – 0 defeat to Sundowns, but their coach remains hopeful.

“We just have to motivate them psychologically and help them understand that they need only three points to reward the hard work they are showing,” he added.

On the final day of the festival on Sunday, bottom-placed Stellenbosch cannot afford to lose against TS Galaxy Queens, while Super Rise Stream’s bottom-ranked City Lads face a must-win clash against seventh-placed Ezemvelo in what promises to be a six-pointer.

Stellenbosch co-coach, Shannon Mills believes back-to-back victories over Diepkloof and Richmond have boosted her team’s confidence.

“There are six points to play for, so why not try to achieve maximum points in the next two games?” asked Mills, whose side still has to face Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Diepkloof are awaiting a decision from the SAFA Disciplinary Committee on whether they will be awarded three points after TS Galaxy Queens failed to honour their fixture at the previous festival in Gqeberha on 25 September.

“This team won’t be relegated,” vowed Diepkloof coach, Edwin Lisene.

Sport Trivia: At the 2007 Cricket World cup, this South African batsman made history when he became the first player to hit six sixes in an over in a ODI match. Answer: Herschelle Gibbs. Herschelle is one of the Protea\’s best batsmen with over 5000 Test runs and over 6000 ODI runs. He is also an excellent fielder, and bowls in first class matches. When Herschelle is on form there is no stopping him, with many centuries and half centuries to his name. However, he also has a fair share of ducks and many matches where he has failed to make 10 runs.
