Thank You, South Africa

5 November 2026 by Guest

Statement by Geordin Hill-Lewis – Leader of the Democratic Alliance:

Thank you to every South African who voted today. You showed up for your community and for the future of our country.

To everyone who voted DA, including those who did so for the first time I say thank you for your trust. We will work every day to earn and keep it.

To the electoral staff, party agents and volunteers who made today possible we thank you for your service to our democracy.

As the votes are counted, I am hopeful that we will remember this election as a turning point.

Today will be the start of bringing DA government that works to many more communities, and making further progress in those places where the DA already governs.

I believe South Africa’s best days are still ahead of us. We can build a country of hope. That future is worth every effort we make together.

Thank you for believing in what we can become, and for helping us get there.
