The 5th edition of Sony Alpha Festival 2023 Touches Down in South Africa!

Sony is delighted to announce the highly anticipated return of the Sony Alpha Festival, 2023 edition in South Africa. Kicking off in Durban on the 29th of July, the festival will design its way to Johannesburg on the 5th of August and before the grand finale in Cape Town on the 12th.

Jobin Joejoe, Deputy Managing Director at Sony Middle East and Africa says, “We are incredibly excited to bring the Sony Alpha Festival to South Africa for the 5th time. This year’s guests will access the chance to learn, experience and collaborate in a space designed to enthral, entertain, and educate.”

He adds, “Our theme for this year is ‘Ky?d?ka’, which is a Japanese word that emphasises the value of shared ownership, collaboration, and community involvement. This theme underscores the importance of collective efforts and interactions within a community and forms a core fraction of Sony’s philosophy.”

This year’s Alpha Festival 2023 promises an unforgettable experience for photography and videography enthusiasts, content creators, and technology aficionados alike. Attendees will believe the unique opportunity to witness the cutting-edge advancements in Sony technology, featuring an impressive lineup of products, including the A6700, 70-200mm F4 G OSS ii, the ECM-M1, ZV-1M2, the Venice II, and the entire Alpha and Cinema Line ranges. The event will also bring together industry experts to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the digital imaging landscape.

To elevate the overall experience, the festival will feature dedicated portrait, video, cinema, automotive, gaming, and podcast stations for creators to engage with as well as accompanying workshops. These setups will provide hands-on experiences for photography and videography enthusiasts to engage with the latest equipment and learn from some of the most creative and technologically savvy minds in the world. To aid supercharge the event, Sony has joined forces with industry partners to create a memorable experience. Nanlux & Nanlite, Nisi Filters, Atomos, Hollyland, MSI, and Evetech will all contribute their expertise to create an unforgettable spectacle.
