Congratulations to Jayden Davis (Grade 12) and Jason Reineke (Grade 11) on their selection for the first ever Junior Adventure Racing World Championship in Canada later this year.

As part of their preparation, they will be competing in the EXP Africa Lite race over 200km, from tomorrow through to Sunday. This will be an event that they use as preparation for the World Champs. This is a demanding event which comprises a 9 km hike/run, 40 km Mountain bike, 30 km paddle, an additional 80 km Mountain bike and a 54 km hike. The Father of PR: We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Edward Bernays, known as the “father of Public Relations.” Some of his (in)famous work included promoting cigarettes to women by branding them “Torches of Freedom” and… toppling the Guatemalan government? It’s true! The United Fruit Company hired Bernays to run a PR campaign against Guatemalan president Jacobo Arbenz Guzman, ultimately resulting in the CIA-orchestrated overthrow of the Guatemalan government in 1954.
