During today’s reply to the Tshwane Metro’s budget for the 2026/27 financial year, the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) warned that the proposed budget does not reflect the Metro’s actual financial position and fails to address the serious service delivery crisis.
The party did not support the budget, stating very clearly that the document is out of touch with reality. The administration continues to rely on overly optimistic revenue collection projections while failing to implement meaningful reforms to stabilise the Metro’s finances.
Unresolved weaknesses in procurement and supply chain management remain a serious cause for concern. Years of corruption scandals, questionable contracts and a lack of accountability have severely eroded public trust in the Metro. Residents deserve the assurance that public money is spent responsibly and transparently.
In addition, the budget is politically motivated, so, it is aimed at pursuing short-term objectives rather than ensuring sustainable governance and basic service delivery.
The Metro’s primary task is to provide reliable services to residents, not to serve political interests and ties.
The Tshwane Metro should adopt a practical, solutions-driven, back-to-basics approach. This includes boosting revenue collection, doing preventive infrastructure maintenance, restoring accountability, improving financial controls, restructuring supply chain management, and prioritising service delivery over politically driven projects.
Without genuine reform, the Metro will face mounting financial pressure, operational instability and growing backlogs in service delivery.
Residents should register and vote for the Freedom Front Plus on 4 November to break the ANC and its partners’ grip on the Metro.
