Ulster Skills Coach Craig Newby said: “We know the Emirates Lions have a big tough pack, and lots of good skilful players. We’re lucky to be back again this Friday night in front of our supporters at Kingspan Stadium, so hopefully the crowd can bring us home.”

Emirates Lions Assistant Coach Barend Pieterse said : “The big thing that we spoke about during the past four weeks is more calmness when we get into the scoring zone. Our work rate in general wasn’t what we wanted in the opening game, but if you look at the last game, every individual worked very hard, and it just came together for us. We need to make sure our basics is good. The guys know the environment that we are going into is harsh. The weather outside is cold, it’s raining, and the stadium will be sold out again, but everyone is ready for what we expect, and we just have to keep our basics simple. It doesn’t help against a classy team like Ulster if we start doing funny things like play from own try-line.”

Replacements: Marco Manfredi, Luca Rizzoli, Muhamed Hasa, Leonard Krumov, Davide Ruggeri, Gonzalo Garcia, Scott Gregory, Guido Volpi

Cardiff Rugby: C Winnett, H Millard, R Lee-Lo, B Thomas, M Grady, T de Beer, T Williams, R Carré, L Belcher (CAPT), R Litterick, S Davies, T Williams, A Mann, E Jenkins, L Timani

Replacements: E Daniel, C Domachowski, W Davies-King, R Thornton, T Young, E Bevan, W Halaholo, J Beetham

Zebre Parma Head Coach Fabio Roselli said: “The challenge with Cardiff comes in the perfect time. It is the best team to test once again our discipline and defence which were fundamental in our win with Sharks last week. Cardiff is a very solid and well organised team but we have built a clear strategy that we believe will work. In the first four rounds we have scored nine points: Friday night’s game becomes very important because it gives us the opportunity to continue climbing the league table”
