Westlake Shopping Centre Reopens with New Shops, More Convenience
Cape Town, [11 September 2024] – Situated in the heart of Cape Town’s vibrant Westlake community, the newly revamped Westlake Shopping Centre is ready to welcome shoppers from the southern suburbs and beyond. Visitors will delight in several upgrades designed to bring more convenience to their doorsteps.
Exciting New Offerings
Following its redevelopment, the Centre now offers the perfect mix of convenience and leisure. Anchor stores Checkers and Clicks are brand-new, catering to the community’s daily needs. Wellness destinations like IV Bar Westlake, Boa Nails, and Azura Beauty provide inviting spaces to escape the daily grind. Gourmet offerings include Ryan Boon Meat for discerning meat connoisseurs and Bootlegger for coffee enthusiasts. The popular Cattle Baron franchise is also set to open later this year.
A Modern Aesthetic
Fresh plants, signage, lighting, and modern finishes complement the new contemporary design of the Centre. Additionally, a cashless parking system has been introduced to meet the needs of today’s convenience-driven shoppers.
Part of the redevelopment project was focused on improving the Centre’s poor spatial planning and circulation. A central glass box has been added as a striking new feature and weatherproof atrium, seamlessly connecting Clicks and Checkers. Shops and restaurants between these anchor tenants are now easily accessible through the atrium.
The first-floor walkway around the atrium has been retained, creating an open, engaging space with clear and continuous circulation throughout the centre. Overall, access for disabled persons has also been improved.
A new trolley-sized passenger lift has been added to the central atrium for easy access to all three floors. The atrium also serves as a public space where ground-floor restaurants can set up seating. This enhances the Centre’s vibrant atmosphere.
More Greenery
New trees have been added to the parking area. Over time, they will form a green canopy to enhance the building’s appearance. Indigenous plants have also been thoughtfully placed at the centre’s entrances, with plans to add more.
Hitting Construction Milestones
A project of this magnitude comes with its own set of challenges, but all construction
milestones and tenant occupation dates at the ground floor level were met. This achievement was made possible by using precast building elements for the glass box, which kept construction on track despite a challenging winter.
The first-floor renovations, featuring new lifestyle and educational tenants, are scheduled for a staggered opening in the last quarter of 2024. Visitors can look forward to a bespoke restaurant offering with breathtaking views over the Tokai, Steenberg, and Constantia landscapes.
Convenient and Accessible
For the Westlake community, the Centre offers unparalleled convenience, serving 7,800 surrounding households, nearby businesses, manufacturing parks, a popular Virgin Active gym, and a tertiary institution. It meets the needs for affordable fresh foods, groceries, household items, medical products, and services. The Centre is also a convenient stop for people travelling between the city, Muizenberg, and Noordhoek.
Don’t Miss Out on Special Promotions
To celebrate their prospective openings, both Checkers and Clicks are offering a range of exciting specials. Shoppers are encouraged to look out for ongoing and new promotions from both existing tenants and those opening in the last quarter of the year.
