On 2nd and 3rd May, 2024 – Zimbabwe Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Hon. Prof. Mthuli Ncube and Mr Tafadzwa Chinamo, the CEO of Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA) will host an investment summit at the Radisson Hotel, Kempton Park, near OR Tambo International.
The summit theme “People you can invest in” is inspired by the popular Zimbabwe idiom “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo or lizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo” – loosely translated to mean – a country is built by its owners.
The objective of the summit is to showcase the various investment opportunities available in mining, infrastructure development, agriculture, agri-processing, tourism and the ICT sector.
“We want to make sure that investors who wish to participate in the Zimbabwean economy get all the answers to their investment queries by the end of the summit,” said one of the organisers, Mr Colin Mackenzie.
Although lauded for its abundant minerals and other natural resources – the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to South Africa, His Excellency Mr David Hamadziripi, was keen to point out that Zimbabwe is also famously known, across the region for the warmth, resilience and hardworking nature of its citizens. “While Zimbabwe may probably be second only to South Africa in the region for its abundant mineral resources, it is also acknowledged as having the highest educated workforce in the SADC region.”
Attendance to the investment summit is by invitation only and has attracted delegates from the regional and international investment community, multinationals and trade missions of the diplomatic sector.
In addition to the various Ministers listed to speak on opportunities in mining, infrastructure, tourism and agriculture – notable speakers, will also include – Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of African Development Bank and H.E. Elias Magosi, SADC Executive Secretary, among others.
