Boasting a fast, flat route, the inaugural Boxer Super Run is set to make waves in the streets of Durban on Sunday 15 October 2023. “The lightning-fast route is set to inject a thrilling dose of excitement into the Men’s and Women’s Elite Races,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “We’re confident the …

Boasting a quick, flat route, the inaugural Boxer Super Sprint is set to manufacture waves in the streets of Durban on Sunday 15 October 2023.

“The lightning-fast route is set to inject a thrilling dose of excitement into the Men’s and Women’s Elite Races,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “We’re bold the event’s R142K Prize Purse will serve as added motivation, igniting the competitive fire within the elite athletes on race day. Witnessing modern South African men’s and/or women’s 5km records being set would be the icing on the cake.”

“But it’s not honest our elite runners that we’re cheering for,” adds Meyer. “We’d also like to see the ‘Open Wave’ participants chasing those PBs, as this course makes it entirely attainable. While we encourage all runners to bring their spirited energy, we challenge the ‘Super Social Wave’ runners and walkers to lead the charge in the celebration department. We’re looking for vibrant outfits, splash on some colour, and infuse style into the streets of Durban.”

“The fun will start in Snell Parade via Lagoon Drive, while the finish will be at Blue Lagoon Park,” says Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores. “Except for one minor hill, the route is flat and rapid and can be enjoyed by runners aged 9 and older. Participants, whether running or walking, can survey forward to experiencing a captivating route that takes them past some of Durban’s most iconic landmarks, including the renowned Kings Park Swimming Pool and the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium. And let’s not forget the breathtaking views of the Durban Beach Front and Promenade. As a bonus, our event partners and sponsors will be offering fantastic activations along the way, including a refreshing Bonaqua Water Point, the PUMA Zone, and exciting Boxer Vibe Points. Entrants can scrutinize forward to a day to remember!”

First Press Release: The first press release was published in October 1906 by Ivy Lee on behalf of the Pennsylvania Railroad. After a tragic accident, Lee issued a statement to reporters rather than concealing the facts, and the first press release was born! The release secured praise for the railroad’s honesty and was even reprinted in the New York Times. (Source: Meltwater)
