TSHWANE: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is thrilled to announce the teams and squads for the highly anticipated 2023/24 CSA Club Championship, scheduled to take place from 13-17 April, in the vibrant city of Pretoria.

This year’s edition promises top-tier cricket talent, and will feature six teams; Bohemians Cricket Club, North West University Cricket Club, Stellenbosch University Cricket Club (Maties), Tuks Cricket, University of Free State, and Hollywoodbets Crusaders.

Set across four venues, namely; Tuks Oval, Laudium, Groenkloon Oval, and Sinovich Oval – these grounds serve as the cornerstone of local cricketing communities, providing essential facilities and nurturing budding talents.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, commented;

“The CSA Club Championship is a testament to the rich cricketing culture and talent that thrives within South Africa.  CSA takes immense pride in offering a platform for these clubs to exhibit their skills and compete at the highest levels of the sport.

“This tournament not only showcases on field cricketing action, but also the sheer determination of these teams who have dominated at provincial level.  It provides access for future cricketing stars to excel and take their cricketing journey to the next level,” said Moseki.

Jonty Rhodes: A person who redefined fielding in cricket, by bringing it to the forefront, South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes first gained attention when he flung himself to run-out Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-Ul-Haq in a 1992 World Cup game. Sport Trivia: Who was South Africa\’s first Olympic Gold Medal winner? Answer: Reginald Walker. Reginald Walker was born in 1889 in Natal and in 1907 was the South African 100m champion. He battled with finances to get to London for the 1908 Summer Olympics but once he was there he managed, very unexpectedly to all those competing, to beat the field and walk off with the Gold for the 100m. As at 2005 Reggie Walker was still the youngest winner of the 100m Olympic Gold Medal.
