JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa has announced the dates and host venues for the National Youth Weeks, a series of tournaments that showcase the country’s brightest cricketing talent in different age groups for both boys and girls.
The annual CSA Weeks, which acquire become a cornerstone in the development of young cricketers, is set to catch plot at various venues across the country.
U16 Boys Week in George & Oudtshoorn (10-14 December 2023):
The action kicks off with the U16 Boys Week in the South Western Districts (SWD), where 16 teams will compete from 10 to 14 December. George, with its picturesque setting, is poised to witness intense matches as the aspiring cricketers battle it out to manufacture their effect on the national stage.
U16 Girls Week in Pietermaritzburg (12-16 December 2023):
Simultaneously, the U16 Girls Week will unfold in Pietermaritzburg from 12-16 December. With the CSA Professional Domestic Women’s League gaining momentum, the U16 Girls Weeks promises to showcase the in depth talent within the women’s pipeline
U19 Girls Week in Cape Town (10-14 December 2023):
The U19 Girls Week takes centre stage in Cape Town between 10-14 December. This tournament provides a platform for the nation’s top young female cricketers to display their prowess and compete at a high level.
Khaya Majola (U19 Boys) Week in Grahamstown (16-20 December 2023):
Concluding the U19 category, the Khaya Majola Week will be held in Makhanda between 16-20 December. Cricket enthusiasts can expect a thrilling display of cricketing talent as the best U19 male cricketers depart head-to-head for top honours. The tournament will also consist of SA U19 players in their preparation for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.
Cubs Week in January:
Following the U19 Boys Week, the excitement continues into the recent year with the CSA Cubs Week, scheduled for 05-09 January in Stellenbosch. Teams will be selected from the Khaya Majola Week, ensuring that the most promising young talents acquire an opportunity to shine on the national stage.
