JOHANNESBURG: The 2024/25 Hollywoodbets Pro Series continues to build momentum as another thrilling weekend of women’s domestic cricket concluded with standout performances across both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 formats.

In the Hollywoodbets Pro50 on Saturday:

World Sports Betting Western Province continued their strong form with a commanding 106-run victory over the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at Kingsmead. Babette de Leede led the charge with a brilliant century (106), supported by Lara Goodall’s impressive 75, as the pair put on a 166-run opening stand.

Dolphins’ Nondumiso Shangase fought back with an excellent bowling display, claiming four wickets in her 10 overs.

In the chase, Alexandra Candler top-scored with 75 runs, while Yasmeen Khan contributed 35, but the Dolphins fell well short of the target.

In Oudtshoorn, Annerie Dercksen’s heroics were not enough to secure victory for the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers as the DP World Lions claimed a tense two-wicket win.

Dercksen starred with an unbeaten 125 to help the Badgers post 231/6. However, the Lions paced their chase well, thanks to Nonkululeko Thabethe (77) and Sinalo Jafta (45), who guided them home with two wickets to spare.

Dercksen’s all-round efforts shone through as she also took three wickets, but it wasn’t enough to deny the Lions victory.

In Bloemfontein, the Fidelity Titans secured a 35-run win over the Knights in a low-scoring contest. Robyn Searle (51) and Anneke Bosch (45) helped the Titans reach 153, while Evodia Yekile impressed with a five-wicket haul for the Knights.

Despite Miane Smit’s unbeaten 59*, the Knights were bowled out for 117, with the Titans claiming a crucial victory.

Hollywoodbets Pro20

The much-anticipated Pro20 clash between log leaders, Western Province and Dolphins was abandoned without a ball bowled due to inclement weather in Durban on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Lions continued their winning streak with a dominant seven-wicket victory over the Badgers. The home side was restricted to 102/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with the Lions chasing down the target with ease.

Tazmin Brits (36) and Kirstie Thompson (34*) ensured a comfortable win, solidifying the Lions’ strong position in the competition.

Titans also made it two from two over the weekend with a 46-run win in the Pro20 fixture. Sune Luus anchored the innings with an unbeaten 49*, helping the Titans post 130/5.

The Titans’ bowlers then put on a clinical display, with Eliz-Mari Marx (3/12) and Masabata Klaas (2/5) leading the attack as the Knights were restricted to just 86 runs, sealing a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
