Lions Win Jukskei Derby In The CSA Professional Domestic Women’s League

JOHANNESBURG: The Jukskei derby saw DP World Lions claim victory against Fidelity Titans in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Professional Domestic Women’s League on Sunday.

Following up their CSA 1 Day Cup win, Lions claimed a seven-wicket victory in the CSA T20 Challenge at the DP World Wanderers.

Titans elected to bat first as contributions from Eliz-Mari Marx (45), Gandhi Jafta (25), and Amogelang Maphangula (24) saw the visitors set the target to 144 runs.

Samantha Schutte (3/27), spearheaded the attack that was supported by SA U19 stars,  Refilwe Moncho (2/21), Jenna Evans (2/26), and Madison Landsman (1/21) to restrict the visitors to 140/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Lions delivered a commanding response as a half century from Sunette Viljoen-Louw (51 off 36), backed by Kirstie Thomson (40* off 26) and 32 runs from Palesa Mapoo helped the hosts to a comfortable win.

In Cape Town, Western Province secured a narrow five-run win against Recon Tactical Free State at Newlands.

The hosts had opted to bat first with a solid unbeaten 48* for Kelsey Adams as Western Province ended the innings on 117/7.

A disciplined bowling attack from the hosts saw Free State restricted to 112/6 in their 20 overs, with notable contributions from Mignon van der Merwe (46) and Yolandi Potgieter (27).

In Division 2, KZN Inland secured a six wicket win against Mpumalanga Rhinos. Full scoresheet here.
