The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) warns Ekurhuleni residents that traffic fines for offences committed in the Metro no longer appear on the PayCity system.

PayCity has not been a contractor of the Metro for nearly a year, meaning fines can no longer be viewed or paid through that platform.

The Freedom Front Plus regularly receives enquiries from residents who believe they have no outstanding fines, simply because there are no fines listed on PayCity. This misconception could lead to fines accumulating unknowingly, missed notices and residents falling into arrears without realising it. It could have serious consequences.

A lack of clear communication from the Metro has caused a lot of confusion. Residents should not run the risk of unintentionally failing to comply with the law due to outdated information.

Residents have to use the Metro’s own traffic fine system, accessible via the official WhatsApp chatbot. The number is 060 667 7177.

How it works:

  1. Send “Hi” on WhatsApp.
  2. Select option 5 – View Notices.
  3. Enter your RSA ID or notice number.
  4. Review your list of active fines.
  5. Select the fine you wish to pay.
  6. Follow the payment link to complete the transaction.

Alternatively, fines can be settled during business hours (Monday to Friday, 08:00–15:00) at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) payment offices. Cash and debit card payments are accepted. There are offices situated in Alberton, Edenvale, Germiston (Elsburg), Nigel, Benoni, Kempton Park, Boksburg, Springs and Brakpan.

For more information, contact the Metro’s customer service team at Siyakhokha@ekurhuleni.gov.za or (011) 999 5102.

The Freedom Front Plus will keep pressing the Metro for transparent communication, accountability and accessible service delivery.

Freedom Front Plus Political Accountability: The party calls for accountability from elected officials.
