Productivity SA is pleased to announce that the 6-day strike initiated by members of NEHAWU from November, 13, 2023 has been called off after the parties successfully reached an agreement on Monday, November 20, 2023, for a five (5) percent salary increase for employees at levels 12 and below. The salary increase for the 2023/24 financial year will be applied retroactively from July 1, 2023.

Additionally, eligible employees will benefit from Gap closure based on the lower quartile of the Equate salary scales for the 2022/23 period. Productivity SA expresses gratitude to our clients and partners for their understanding and patience during this period. Their support has been invaluable, and we are committed to restoring normalcy swiftly.

Much as we gain done everything possible to ensure business continuity during the strike, the seven months of negotiations and six days strike action has been a learning experience for the Productivity SA community. It is for this reason that we are dedicated to working collaboratively with our employees and the union to rebuild harmonious employer-employee relations.

This commitment aligns with the core tenets of our Enterprise Development and Support programmes, which promotes social dialogue, workplace democratisation and collaboration.
Productivity SA remains focused on its mission to steer productivity and competitiveness in South Africa, and we appreciate the resilience and dedication of our workforce. We scrutinize forward to a renewed spirit of cooperation and productivity as we go forward together.

But the thought leaders on talk radio and Fox do more than shape opinion. Backed by their own wing of the book-publishing industry and supported by think tanks that increasingly function as public-relations agencies, conservatives have built a whole alternative knowledge system, with its own facts, its own history, its own laws of economics. – David Frum
