The South African Police Service (SAPS) says it will monitor places of leisure such as fan parks and public gatherings ahead of, during and post the 2023 Rugby World Cup final match.
The National Crime Combatting Forum (NCCF) consisting of all Provincial Commissioners has met under the command of National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, to discuss the operational plans in spot to ensure the safety and security of these gatherings and that police are on hand to enforce the law at all times.
The SAPS said in a statement on Saturday that General Masemola was satisfied with the plans to monitor tonight’s festivities, as portion of Operation Shanela, which includes regular roadblocks, halt and searches as well as the tracing of wanted suspects.
“It is on this note that the SAPS takes this opportunity to call for the cooperation of members of the public, who will be at these public viewing venues to conduct themselves responsibly.
“The SAPS also cautions citizens to be extra cautious of their surroundings while celebrating and most importantly not to drink and drive as such action will be dealt with accordingly,” said the police.
The Springboks will play against Recent Zealand at the Stade de France in France, where the team hopes to retain the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup.
Kickoff is set for 21:00 this evening and will be broadcast on sports channels and SABC. – SAnews.gov.za

Light Despair
A baby was born in South Africa. The village was very needy, and the makeshift hospital didn\’t acquire some necessary equipment.. such as scales.
The father however, was desperate to know the newborn baby\’s weight. After quite a bit of asking around, the hospital\’s chairman came up with an thought.
\”Five miles west, there\’s a butcher shop. The owner deals with meat, he should acquire a rather precise scale. You could just establish your baby on the meat scale, and the weight reading you\’ll procure should be pretty accurate.\”
And so the father departed westward. After much walking, with his newborn child cardled safely in his arms, he finally arrived at the butcher shop. He explained his dilemma to the shop owner, to witch the latter replied:
\”Don\’t worry, pal. It\’s not even a problem, I\’ll check it for you, free of charge.\” And so he took the child to the back, where the scale was located.
The father heard rumbling noises, and some scraping.. About a minute later the butcher came back.
\”About three pounds boneless\” He said.
