False Bay: Boat Capsize

26 September 2024 by Guest

Nicky Whitehead, NSRI Strandfontein station commander, said: At 16h55, Tuesday, 24 September, NSRI Strandfontein duty crew and the CoCT (City of Cape Town) water rescue network were activated following reports of a small boat capsized offshore of Blue Waters, between Monwabisi and Mnandi, on the False Bay Coast.

CoCT lifeguards and CoCT Law Enforcement had visuals of the boat and reported one person to be in the water.

NSRI Strandfontein launched the rescue craft Rescue 16 Bravo while our NSRI Strandfontein rescue vehicle and Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services responded to join lifeguards and Law Enforcement officers on the scene.

WC Government Health EMS Metro Control activated the EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter.

On the NSRI rescue craft arriving on the scene a 31 year old man, from Tafelsig, was rescued and the 3.5 meter rubber duck was recovered.

The man was brought to shore where he was treated for non-fatal drowning symptoms and hypothermia.

A search commenced for a 33 year old man, from Tafelsig, and he was found safe on the beach after he had managed to swim to shore and no further assistance was required.

A boer went to the appliance store sale and found a bargain. \”I would like to buy this TV,\” hetold the salesman. \”Sorry, we don\’t sell to boere,\” the salesman replied. He hurried home, took a shower, changed his clothes and combed his hair, then came back and again told the salesman \”I would like to buy this TV.\” \”Sorry, we don\’t sell to boere,\” the salesman replied. \”Bliksem, he recognized me,\” he thought. So he went for a complete disguise this time, haircut and new color, shaved off the baard, suit and tie, fake glasses, then waited a few days before he again approached the salesman. \”I would like to buy this TV.\” Sorry, we don\’t sell to boere,\” the salesman replied. Frustrated, he exclaimed \”Jislaaik, man! How do you know I\’m a boer?\”\”Because that\’s a microwave,\” the salesman replied.
