The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) urgently implores the police’s crime prevention unit in Malmesbury to ensure the safety of the town’s residents by maintaining a visible presence in neighbourhoods and being proactive.

Several gang-related incidents claimed multiple lives over the past few weeks. In the latest shooting on Sunday morning (12 July), ten people were wounded and two were killed.

A three-year-old child was admitted to the Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town with a facial wound, while seven others were transferred to hospitals in Cape Town.

These violent incidents are getting out of hand. Residents are living in constant fear, and all role-players are urged to step in and help prevent crime.

Every person has the right to live and work in a safe and healthy environment. The question remains: how many more innocent lives must be lost before this situation is taken seriously?

More resources and support should be deployed to the affected areas to conduct regular preventative operations, as this region is plagued by territorial gang violence.

The Freedom Front Plus extends its heartfelt condolences to the families who have suffered tragic losses.
The party will keep fighting to protect residents’ rights and secure neighbourhoods. Everyone needs to join hands to make it happen.

Fun South African Fact: South Africa is known as the “Rainbow Nation” thanks to its mix of cultures across the country. The status of being a cultural “melting pot” is evident in the fact that South Africa has a whopping 11 official languages: English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, IsiNdebele, Sesotho, Northern Sotho, Setswana, SiSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga. Most South Africans speak more than one national language. IsiZulu is the most common first language and isiXhosa is second. Fun fact – did you know the people of Wakanda speak isiXhosa in Marvel’s Black Panther movie?
