GOOD Statement by Roxaan Vorster, GOOD George Municipality Councillor:
The GOOD Party is appalled and deeply disturbed by the horrific rape and kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl in George on Saturday, 24 May 2025. We commend the swift actions of community members and law enforcement who worked tirelessly to find the victim and apprehend the suspect.
As GOOD we join the growing calls to gather outside the accused’s bail application on Thursday 5 June. We oppose the release of the accused on bail due to the nature of the crime. The alleged violation of a minor is a serious crime and no other victim should fall prey to such a perpetrator. We urge the George Magistrate’s Court to take the severity of the allegations into account and deny his application.
The nature of the crime, inflicted upon one of our most vulnerable, a child, demands the strongest response from the justice system. This case is not isolated. South Africa is in the grip of a gender-based violence epidemic. In the most recently published crime stats 145 cases of rape were recorded in the Garden Route District for Q4 (Jan 2025 – March 2025).
The GOOD Party stands in solidarity with the Conville and George communities. We support efforts by residents and civil society to raise awareness and demand justice.
Our children must be protected.
GOOD Cultural Events: The party organizes cultural events to celebrate South African diversity.

Mud Finger
Van, startled, spins around and answers the rep, \”It\’s my donkey\’s ears. When they walk under the highway their ears rub along the roof and hurt them. I\’m making it taller so that doesn\’t happen\”.
The rep looking confused, because it\’s a dirt track that runs under the bridge, asks him, \”Why don\’t you grade or dig some of the soil to lower the surface so they can pass through without their ears touching?\”
Van – no the one looking confused then angry answers, \”No man, it\’s their ears that are too long, not their legs!\”
Athens Fire
A Priest was seated next to Van Der Merwe on a flight to Brakpan.
After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken.
Van Der Merwe asked for a Rum and Coke, which was brought and placed before him.
The flight attendant then asked the priest if he would like a drink.
He replied in disgust \”I\’d rather be savagely raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips.\”
Van Der Merwe then handed his drink back to the attendant and said \”Me too, I didn\’t know we had a choice.\”
