The National Consumer Commission (NCC) alerts consumers to a safety recall issued by Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd affecting 146 (one hundred and forty-six) Hino 300 series vehicles. These were distributed nationally between 14 March 2025 and 19 October 2025.
The affected models include XZU600R, XZU650R, XZU720R, and XZU730R.
According to the supplier, an incorrect component might have been installed in the circuit board of the combination meter. This may cause the component to overheat and result in a malfunction of the speedometer and/or odometer. A malfunction of the speedometer and/or odometer may increase the risk of unsafe driving conditions.
Consumers who own affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to the nearest authorised Toyota dealership for inspection and the necessary replacement of the combination meter, which will be carried out at no cost to the consumer. Product recalls play an important role in protecting consumer safety and preventing potential harm associated with defective products. The NCC continues to monitor this product recall in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act.
Consumers who have questions or enquiries about this recall are encouraged to contact ProductRecall@thencc.org.za.
