Three individuals narrowly avoided injury when a light aircraft crashed into a streetlight in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, on Thursday afternoon, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The aircraft, identified as a Piper Lance or Saratoga, was making an emergency landing around 4pm.
According to Captain Andre Beetge, a 75-year-old pilot reported that the plane was running low on fuel and had to land on Ysterhout Street in Algoa Park.

Beetge explained, ‘The 75-year-old male pilot alleged that the aircraft was low on fuel and he was forced to make an emergency landing in Ysterhout Street in Algoa Park.’
He further noted that a pothole and a speed bump contributed to the aircraft’s deviation, causing it to crash into a light pole.
The impact damaged the plane’s wings and tail section, but the pilot and his two passengers, aged 33 and 43, were unharmed. Beetge confirmed, ‘No injuries were reported by the pilot and his two passengers, two men aged 33 and 43.’
Additionally, the incident did not affect any pedestrians or traffic.
Once the fire department declared the area safe, the aircraft was handed over to its owner for recovery.
