Stillwater Sports, the team behind South Africa’s acclaimed road running series, is thrilled to reveal that the Absa RUSH YOUR CITY Series will boast an impressive, combined Prize Purse of R 1,560,000.00 in 2024.

Transforming the landscape of road running since its inception in 2015, the Absa RACE YOUR CITY Series comprises five mass participation events spread across five vibrant cities: kicking off with the Absa RACE YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K in April, followed by the Absa DASH YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K in May, the Absa SPRINT YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K in July, the Absa DASH YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K in August, and concluding with the Absa DASH YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K in September.

“We are proud to once again offer an impressive combined series Prize Purse of R 1 560 000.00 in 2024,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Series Founder. “Each of the five events will feature a total prize purse of R312,000. Within this allocation, R252,000 will be earmarked for the Open Category, with R126,000 dedicated to the Top 10 Open Men and R126,000 to the Top 10 Open Women. Additionally, R60,000 will be designated for Age Categories. The top male and female finishers in each city will be awarded R30,000 each, with R25,000 going to the second-place finishers and R20,000 to the third-place finishers. The Age Category Prize Purse will be distributed among the top three finishers in each of the Junior, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, and 70+ Age Categories.”

“We are dedicated to delivering five exceptional mass participation road races on South African soil in 2024,” continues Meyer. “Each event will showcase a spectacular route, highlighting the splendor of its host city and offering fierce competition as South Africa’s elites grasp on the world’s top athletes. By providing a substantial prize purse, we aim to inspire athletes to arrive fully prepared and determined to give their best performance on race day. We are proud to be able to recognize and reward these athletes for their dedication and support.”

In closing Meyer adds” “Witnessing world-class performances on home soil is always a thrill, and we can’t wait to procure the 2024 season underway starting with the Absa RACE YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K on Sunday, 7 April.”

Johnson & Johnson’s Classic Crisis Case Study: Ivy Lee may have pioneered crisis communications with the press release and Rockefeller campaign, but Johnson & Johnson perfected it during a 1982 Tylenol recall. When news of Tylenol bottles laced with cyanide created a nationwide panic, many thought J&J’s reputation would never recover. But the company’s stellar response – including national media statements, pulling all Tylenol from shelves, and introducing tamper-resistant seals – earned praise from outlets such as The Washington Post and delivered a rapid post-crisis comeback. Today, Johnson & Johnson’s recall is considered one of the most successful examples of crisis communications. (Source: PR Week)
