The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara is thrilled to announce an exceptional photography exhibition showcasing the work of acclaimed South African documentary and fine art photographer, Mathew Willman. Titled “The Vic Victoria Falls Collection”, this exhibition will run from 8 June to 17 June 2024, providing a rare and in-depth visual journey through the iconic Victoria Falls and its surrounding beauty.

The exhibition will begin on 8 June with an opening night show in the charming surroundings of the Travellers Bar. Guests will be treated to canapés and beverages as Mr. Willman shares insights into the vision behind his projects. This event, running from 5.00pm to 6.30pm, will also be an excellent opportunity for attendees to engage directly with the photographer. This is an open night, which will set the tone for a week of artistic exploration. Visitors are welcome to stay and dine overlooking the Zambezi River.

Following the grand opening, the program includes exclusive events such as:

  • Daily: Matthew Willman will be available each evening from 5.00pm – 6.00pm in the Travellers Bar to meet and discuss his works with guests
  • Thursday 13 June: A walking tour exclusive to hotel guests of the pictures displayed throughout the hotel, offering a personal insight into each piece.
  • Saturday 15 June: A unique opportunity to join Matthew Willman on the Royal Livingstone Train dinner, allowing deeper conversations about his work against the backdrop of the mesmerising Victoria Falls.
  • Monday 17 June: A closing event that mirrors the opening but is exclusively for in-house guests, ensuring a personal and intimate conclusion to this spectacular exhibition.

“This exhibition is not just about showcasing the awe-inspiring beauty of Victoria Falls through the lens of a remarkable photographer but also about inspiring our guests and the local community,” said Complex General Manager, Laurie Burr. “Mathew Willman’s dedication to his craft and his willingness to share his knowledge make this event a must-visit for anyone passionate about art, photography, and nature.”

Aside from the exciting exhibit, Mathew Willman will engage with photography enthusiasts, sharing valuable insights and tips for capturing the magnificence of the Falls and their holiday moments.

Willmann will also be contributing to the hotel’s philanthropic efforts by participating in the Founder’s Day programme, where four of his connecting pictures, related to the hotel’s CSR initiatives will be sold, and proceeds will go to the local community. This event celebrates the birthday of our founder, Bill Heineke, and Anantara’s commitment to giving back.

Capitalism, the ogre of those protesting Wall Street, has suffered a Public Relations crisis in the wake of the global economic collapse. But any remedy to the systemic corruption that led to the collapse should not displace recognition that capitalism creates wealth. Capitalism, and no other economic system, has raised millions from poverty around the world. – Kathleen Parker
