The Freedom Front Plus’s (VF Plus) bilateral visit to the US to engage with White House officials and other stakeholders begins today with a discussion at the Hudson Institute in Washington, DC.

The theme of the discussion is “An Afrikaner Perspective on US–South Africa Relations” and will take place from 13:00 to 14:30, Washington time (19:00 to 20:30, SA time).

The Hudson Institute is a prominent research organisation focusing on public policy, national security, economics and international relations.

The Institute advocates for a free market and democracy, aiming to foster strategic debate and find solutions to global challenges. It advises policymakers and shapes opinions through global discourse.

The announcement of today’s discussion on the Hudson Institute’s website states that the “Afrikaner community of South Africa has received significant news coverage in the United States since President Donald Trump announced that he would grant members of the group refugee status.”

It goes on to say that “this and other issues related to the Afrikaners have been key stressors in the US– South Africa relationship and were major points of discussion between Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during their recent meeting in the Oval Office.”

“Three leaders of prominent South African organisations with strong Afrikaner memberships are visiting the US to discuss the key issues roiling ties between Washington and Pretoria.”

They are: “Dr Corné Mulder, leader of the Freedom Front Plus, a center-right political party represented in the South African Parliament and a member of the Government of National Unity.

“The party advocates for minority rights and self-determination for the Afrikaner ethnic minority.

“Dr Theo de Jager, CEO of the Southern African Agri Initiative (SAAI), an organisation representing family farmers across all ethnic groups in Southern Africa. SAAI is also part of the Afrikaner Leadership Network.”

“Mr Gerhard Papenfus, CEO of the National Employers Association of South Africa (NEASA), a leading organisation representing businesses across all sectors.

“NEASA actively opposes race-based policies, such as Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), which it argues are detrimental to business and economic growth. NEASA is also a member of the Afrikaner Leadership Network.”

The Freedom Front Plus believes South Africa is a country full of wonderful people and ample opportunities. Solutions can and should be found to make the country prosperous again.

South Africa ought to be the economic powerhouse of Africa, but unfortunately, it is not reaching its full potential due to failed race-based policies that discriminate against Afrikaners and other minorities, deterring investors.

Our message is that we should all work and build together to once again make South Africa a winning nation. This is the message we hope to get across loud and clear to the US.

Freedom Front Plus Anti-Corruption: The party is vocal against corruption in government and public institutions.
